Athens Saronic Islands 1-Week Yacht Charter Itinerary

A week of effortless island-hopping in Greece’s sheltered Saronic Gulf.

Starting from Athens and stretching toward Spetses, Nafplion, Porto Cheli, Hydra, Agistri and Aegina, this yacht charter route offers short cruising distances, safe anchorages and plenty of history; making it ideal for both first-time sailors and families. Culture, cuisine and nature come together in perfect harmony along the way.

Day 1: Athens - Poros/Russian Bay

Settle into your yacht at Alimos or Flisvos Marina, where your crew welcomes you on board and helps you ease into the rhythm of the week ahead. As the lines are cast off, a gentle cruise carries you toward Poros.

Your first swim awaits in the tranquil, emerald waters of Russian Bay, a quiet cove surrounded by tall pines. By late afternoon, the harbor begins to glow in soft golden tones. A slow walk along the waterfront, followed by dinner at a cozy taverna under the warm lights of the port, is the perfect way to close your first day on the Saronic.

Day 2: Spetses

Known as the “fragrant island” Spetses is famous for its historic mansions, pine forests, and secluded coves.

The Venetians once called the island “Isola di Spezie,” meaning the island of scents.

Take a snorkeling break in Zogeria Bay, then explore the coastline by horse-drawn carriage or e-bike instead of a car. In the late afternoon, enjoy a cocktail on the terrace of the Poseidonion Grand Hotel, followed by a seaside dinner featuring fresh fish and local island wines.

Day 3: Nafplion

Arrive in Nafplion, the first capital of Greece, and climb the 999 steps of Palamidi Fortress to enjoy sweeping panoramic views.

Stroll through the neoclassical streets adorned with elegant balconies, browse the boutique shops, and spend the late afternoon people-watching in Syntagma Square with a refreshing ice cream in hand.

Day 4: Porto Cheli

Porto Heli is a small coastal town with a cosmopolitan atmosphere, thanks to its large harbor that provides an excellent anchorage for yachts during the summer months. The day moves slowly exactly as a Greek summer should.

Day 5: Hydra

Car-free and timeless Hydra is renowned for its stone mansions and captivating atmosphere.

The island rose to fame in 1957 with the film “Boy on a Dolphin” starring Sophia Loren.

Hike up Mount Eros for breathtaking views of the sea in every shade of blue, then enjoy a swim at Kamini or Vlychos beach. In the late afternoon, watch the harbor lights come alive, dine by the water, and explore the island’s charming art galleries.

Day 6: Agistri

A true paradise for nature lovers; a landscape shaped by pine forests, cliff-jumping spots and shimmering turquoise waters.

Visit the Zoodochos Pigi Cathedral in Megalochori, then snorkel in the crystal-clear bay of Mariza, where the rocks cast silver reflections beneath the surface. If you feel like wandering a little farther, a short trip to the Aponisos lagoon rewards you with glassy waters and a peaceful, untouched setting perfect for slow moments.

Day 7: Aegina - Athens

Aegina is a lush Greek island famous for its vibrant pistachio production. The island features a charming town center filled with elegant neoclassical buildings where you can wander through narrow streets and enjoy fresh fish and delicious meze at the tavernas inside the lively fish market.

One of the island’s most important landmarks is the Temple of Aphaia, dating back to the 5th century BC. Set atop a hill surrounded by olive and pine trees, the temple offers a stunning panoramic view over the deep blue sea.

Day 8: Athens

After your final breakfast on board, disembark by 09:00 as your journey gently comes to an end. If time allows, visit the Acropolis Museum for one last brush with ancient history or elevate your farewell to Greece with a Michelin-starred lunch by the sea for a refined closing note to a week spent on the water.
