New Mooring Regulations in Gocek Bays
Dear Sea Lovers, Valued Guests and Partners;
We would like to inform you about the new Mandatory Mooring Buoy System implemented by the “Turkish Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change” regarding the use of bays in Göcek region.
The official goal is to protect the local marine ecosystem. As a result, free anchoring is no longer permitted and all vessels must attach to the paid mooring buoys that the ministry installed.
We have put together everything you need to know so you can plan your charter with confidence.
Compulsory Mooring
Free anchoring has been banned. All yachts must now use the official paid mooring buoys provided by the Ministry.
Fees & Pricing
The official state bodies TÜÇA and ÇEYAŞ set and collect mooring fees directly. These fees are not included in your charter price.
Above you can see the official price list published on https://deria.gov.tr/pricing-policy %20 VAT will be added on top of these prices.
Payment Responsibility
Since guests choose both the bay and the duration of their stay, they cover these official mooring fees directly, just as they would with marina fees.
Important: Fees are non-refundable under any circumstances. If you would like to change and navigate to another bay, you must make a new reservation and pay again for the new bay.
How to Make a Reservation
All reservations are handled on deria.gov.tr website or the related app available on play store. The system requires certain technical and commercially sensitive details during registration. For this reason, guests cannot access it directly. Captains, vessel owners or authorised agents handle all reservation procedures.
Your captain or our team manages the entire process on your behalf.
New reservations for the following month open on the 15th of each month. Popular bays fill up fast, so early planning makes a big difference.
Times and Rules
- Check-in time: 14:00
- Check-out time: 12:00
- Maximum stay: 3 nights per bay
Where Does the Gocek Mooring Buoy System Apply?
The system covers almost all bays inside the Göcek gulf. Only Panço and Büyükova bays are exempt. In addition, the outer bays of Ağa Limanı and Dış Göbün also fall outside the system.
In all bays where the system applies, free anchoring is strictly forbidden. Every vessel must attach to an official mooring buoy or buoy line. The Harbour Master’s Office and Coast Guard carry out inspections and violations result in penalties.
Situations Beyond Our Control
The following issues stem directly from how the system works. As yacht operators and travel agents, we have no authority or influence over any of these matters.
Insufficient Mooring Capacity
The system has close to 900 mooring buoys in total. During peak season, the number of vessels in the area can easily exceed 4,000. This gap creates a serious operational challenge. For this reason, we strongly recommend building flexibility into your itinerary and keeping backup bays in mind, especially during July and August.
No Refunds
If you decide to change bays for any reason, you lose the fee you already paid for the current reservation. Furthermore, you must make a new reservation and pay again for the new bay.
Blue Cruise Flexibility Is Now Limited
In short, this new system requires advance route planning. Switching bays on the spot means extra fees and the risk of finding no available buoy. Unfortunately, the spontaneous bay-hopping that defined traditional blue cruising is no longer possible in the bays covered by this system.
Real-Life Scenarios
Based on our own experiences, here are a few situations you may encounter.
The Neighbouring Boat Is Too Noisy. Let’s Move to Another Bay.
For exmaple the boat next to you has a large group with children and the noise becomes too much. You want to move to a quieter bay. Here is what happens:
- You lose the fee you already paid for your current bay.
- We must make a new reservation for another buoy, if one is even available!
We Used to Visit 2-3 Bays in a Day. How Does That Work Now?
You must make a separate reservation and pay a separate fee for each bay you plan to moor in. Each stop costs extra, regardless of how long you stay.
